Why teenagers dont like reading classics ?

Question

Why teenagers dont like reading classics ?
Of course , theyre exceptions , but most of them like reading Twilight , the Clique series , teen drama books....

Answer

I am and I love classics, but I know what you mean. I guess it is because classic tend to be harder to read. I love reading, and so do a lot of my friends, so we love to get into the harder, longer books, not only but defiantly including the classics. However, because so many people are not that into reading, when they do read they want something that is easy, that they can finish quickly and that doesnt really make them concentrate or think too much. For most people, reading is a form of relaxation, rather than an actual hobby, so classics are not appropriate for them to read because they dont get what they need out of them.brbrI disagree that classics are not relevant to our current lives. I think most, if not all, classic books have been written about something that doesnt really change, a universal truth or question, like love, being your own person, standing up for what you believe in, accepting what is different, etc. But I do think that, because these themes are hidden beneath a time a style of writing that we are not as familiar with, that it can be much harder to see their relevance. For people who love reading as a hobby, this is not a problem, but for people who just want pure entertainment, it isnt worth reading them.brbrI just think classic suit a much small range of people, which is why they are not as popular as say, a teen drama that appeals to a much wider audience.
